2022 in Review: The Discourse, Wrapped
Product management tools, Figma, Twitter, Apple Watch, and AI
As we look back on 2022, We can't help but feel a sense of pride For all the challenges we faced And the obstacles we overcame, side by side
The year was full of ups and downs But through it all, we stood our ground We laughed and cried, we danced and sang And together, we learned and grew, as a team
We made new friends, we found new love We built new dreams, and chased them above We learned from our mistakes, and tried again And in the end, we reached our goals, and then some
So as we say goodbye to 2022, We look back on all that we've been through And we are grateful, for every moment For all the memories we've made, and all that we'll do.
That’s a poem about 2022 , written by our dear friend ChatGPT. What a time to be alive, eh?
2022 was the first year that was without major Covid restrictions across the world, so we spent more time outdoors. A lot of people started newsletters in 2020-2021, but haven’t continued them into 2022. I wanted to take a moment to thank you— each one of you — for motivating me to continue this newsletter into 2023 and beyond.
I want to share some of the most popular editions of The Discourse with you, but before that, a few notable events from the year:

Here are 5 of the most popular posts of the year:
1. 16 Best Product Management Tools to Help You Get the Job Done
This was my first curated list article. I usually don’t do them, but this resonated well with people and got a glimpse into what all tools a PM uses. You might as well replace all these tools with ChatGPT now.
2. How Social Accountability Can Help You Achieve Your Fitness Goals
In 2022 I got the Apple Watch for the first time and I was curious to explore how the social accountability features improved my fitness levels.
3. Why Figma Won: The Rationale Behind Adobe's Blockbuster Acquisition
Figma was the biggest tech outcome in 2022 (if you don’t include Elon’s hostile takeover of Twitter) I enjoyed exploring the nuances that made Figma what it was.
4. I Rewrote 58 Newsletter Titles with AI, Here’s What I Learnt
AI is taking over the world. I explored how AI was able to successfully rewrite 69% of my newsletter titles and made them more attractive to the reader.
5. Going viral
I explored what it meant to go viral on Twitter, for a shitpost. And what were the elements that aided it going viral. This was a fun one!
What to expect in 2023:
More strategy pieces covering landscapes of apps and technology
More tactical pieces on product thinking and product management
More video content on AI, no-code and interviews with founders, product people, founders, VCs and more
Here’s a glimpse of the trajectory that The Discourse has had in the last few weeks. Thanks to everyone who has subscribed! You're the real MVP!
Appreciate you.
Thanks for reading, as always. Talk to you soon and Happy new year!
